Historical Opinions of the Attorney General
Section 36-15-1(1)a of the Code of Alabama requires the Attorney General to “give his or her opinion in writing, or otherwise, on any question of law connected with the interest of the state.” Opinions of the Attorney General are, as required by law, available online.
Opinions deemed of public interest from 1819-1935 were published as a part of the Attorney General’s Biennial Reports. Beginning in 1935, opinions were included in the published Attorney General’s Quarterly Reports. Access to the reports from 1894 to 1980 are available in a searchable, digitized format that can be accessed by clicking here.
