(Montgomery, Ala.) – Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the possession with intent to distribute child sexual abuse material conviction of Dennis Dudley Wright, 67, of Buhl, Alabama. Wright was convicted in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court on October 1, 2025.
The evidence at trial showed that on December 11, 2022, an image depicting child pornography was posted to Pinterest from a specific IP address. Pinterest reported this matter, like other internet providers, to law enforcement who discovered the IP address belonged to Wright. Investigators further discovered that the image was posted by a username associated with Wright’s email address. Police seized Wright’s electronic devices from his home, and a forensic investigation revealed over 100 images of child pornography depicting children who appeared to be as young as nine and no older than fourteen years of age. In addition, investigators discovered a child-like silicon sex doll, approximately the size of a nine- to fourteen-year-old child dressed in lingerie and locked in a closet in Wright’s bedroom. Wright subsequently admitted to investigators that he possessed numerous images of child pornography.
Tuscaloosa County District Attorney Hays Webb successfully prosecuted this case and obtained a guilty verdict. Wright was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment upon his possession convictions and eighteen years for his dissemination conviction. Wright sought to have his convictions reversed on appeal.
The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Division handled the case during the appeals process, arguing for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to affirm Wright’s convictions. The Court did so in a decision issued Friday, August 14, 2026.
