COURT REFUSAL TO HEAR APPEAL FROM DEATH ROW INMATE THOMAS
ARTHUR
(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Steven T. Marshall welcomed a decision Monday
by the U.S. Supreme Court to decline to hear the latest appeal from Alabama death row
inmate Thomas Arthur.
“Thomas Arthur has successfully avoided execution seven times since he was first
convicted of capital murder in 1983,” said Attorney General Marshall. “I welcome the
Court’s decision to deny his appeal yet again by denying his petition for rehearing
which comes almost one month before his next scheduled execution date of May 25.
The victim’s family has waited too long for justice in this murder case.”
