AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES 45-COUNT INDICTMENT IN
BALDWIN COUNTY FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

(MONTGOMERY)–Attorney General Luther Strange announced the
indictment of a Baldwin County man for 45 counts of child pornography. John
Lockard Bailey, 36, of Elberta, has now been served notice of the indictment at the
Baldwin County Correctional Center, where he has been incarcerated since he was
arrested on warrants on June 10, and remains in custody. Bond was set at $500,000.
Attorney General Strange’s Criminal Trials Division presented evidence to a
Baldwin County grand jury, resulting in Bailey’s indictment* on August 21. The
charges in the indictment are related to those for which Bailey previously was
arrested on the warrants.
No further information about the investigation or about Bailey’s alleged
crimes other than that stated in the indictment may be released at this time.
If convicted, Bailey faces a maximum penalty of 10 years for each count of
possession of child pornography, which is a class C felony. At this time, trial is
scheduled for January 25, 2016.

Attorney General Strange commended his Criminal Trials Division, noting in
particular Assistant Attorneys General Kelly Godwin and John Hensley, and Special
Agents of his Investigations Division.

*An indictment is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
