AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES CONVICTION OF FLORENCE
ATTORNEY DONALD TIPPER FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

(MONTGOMERY)–Attorney General Luther Strange announced the
conviction of a Florence attorney on charges of sexual misconduct. Donald Glenn
Tipper pleaded guilty yesterday in Lauderdale County Circuit Court.
Tipper will be required to register as a sex offender. He was sentenced to 12
months in the Lauderdale County Jail, which was suspended for a term of two years
of supervised probation, was fined $1,000 and will be required to pay a $100
Alabama Victims Compensation fee.
“This man is an attorney who abused his position of trust to take horrible
advantage of a vulnerable client,” said Attorney General Strange. “He has admitted
to criminal sexual misconduct, which is defined as sexual intercourse without the
victim’s consent. I am pleased that this conviction will hold him to account and give
notice to the community that he is a sex offender with a criminal record. This is due
to the victim’s courage in coming forward and to outstanding work by those who
handled this case.”
Attorney General Strange commended those involved in investigating and
prosecuting this case, noting in particular Assistant Attorneys General Stephanie
Billingslea and Bill Lisenby and Legal Research Assistant Lori Arnold of the
Attorney General’s Criminal Trials Division, Victim Service Officer Ashley Harbin
of the Attorney General’s Office of Victim Assistance, Special Agents of his
Investigations Division and the Florence Police Department.
