AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES FELONY CONVICTIONS
FOR ROBBERY AND BURGLARY IN SHELBY COUNTY
(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange announced the
conviction of a Shelby County man for felony robbery and burglary violations.
Brandon Mershon Hill, 28, of Columbiana, pleaded guilty yesterday in Shelby
County Circuit Court to second-degree robbery and third-degree burglary. He was
sentenced to 10 years for each charge. The sentences were partially suspended, and
he was ordered to serve 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised
probation.
According to Hill’s arrest reports, he took four televisions and a riding
lawnmower in his burglary of a Shelby residence in 2010 and other miscellaneous
items during a robbery in Alabaster in 2010. He was indicted by a Shelby County
grand jury in 2012 for the burglary and in 2013 for the robbery. Second-degree
robbery is a class B felony and third-degree burglary is a class C felony.
“I am pleased that this defendant has been held to account for his crimes and
that he will serve time in prison,” said Attorney General Strange. “I hope this will
serve as a deterrent to others who might consider crimes such as burglary and
robbery and that the people of Alabama will be safer.”
Attorney General Strange commended those involved in bringing this case to
a successful conclusion, noting in particular Assistant Attorneys General Ternisha
Miles and John C. Hensley III of his Criminal Trials Division. He also thanked the
Alabaster Police Department for its investigation of this matter.
