AG STRANGE ISSUES 2013 YEAR-IN-REVIEW ONLINE
(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange is sharing highlights of his
office’s activities last year through the online publication today of The Alabama
Attorney General’s 2013 Year-in-Review.
“2013 was an eventful year for the Office of the Attorney General. We
implemented several new initiatives related to texting and driving and internet safety, all
while continuing traditions such as the annual Law Enforcement Summit. Additionally, I
am extremely proud of the work my office put into reinstating the Safe School Awards,
with a renewed focus on technological advances to deal with modern challenges,” said
Attorney General Strange.
“Throughout this year, Alabama stood alongside private citizens, the United
States Department of Justice, and the State of Louisiana in a two-part trial to prove the
liability and gross negligence of the parties responsible for the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill,” the
Attorney General stated. “We also secured a decision that will make Alabama the first
state to try its own case for economic damages against BP, a trial for which we are
presently preparing. And, as in 2011 and 2012, we utilized our in-house attorneys and
resources to handle the litigation, saving the State of Alabama millions of dollars.”
As in years past, Attorney General Strange is providing the 2013 Year-In-Review

economic hardship and is available to state and local officials, as well as the public, at
