(Montgomery, Ala) – Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the murder and robbery in the first-degree convictions of Jeffery Alan Holley, 32, of Semmes. Holley was convicted in the Mobile County Circuit Court on January 29, 2026.

The evidence at trial showed that on February 15, 2023, Holley got into an altercation with the victim, Alan “Bama” Williams, after having purchased methamphetamine from a drug dealer. A witness observed Holley disarm Williams of his pistol and then saw Holley shoot the victim in the head while the victim begged for his life. Holley testified at trial that the victim attempted to pull a weapon on Holley and that he shot Williams because he was afraid that the victim was reaching for another weapon after he had been already disarmed by Holley.

Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood successfully prosecuted this case and obtained guilty verdicts. Holley was sentenced to life imprisonment for his murder conviction and thirty years for his robbery conviction. Holley sought to have his convictions reversed on appeal.

The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Division handled the case during the appeals process, arguing for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to affirm Holley’s convictions. The Court did so in a decision issued Friday, September 18, 2026.

Attorney General Marshall commended Assistant Attorney General James B. Baker II for his successful work on this case and thanks District Attorney Keith Blackwood and his staff for their valuable assistance in obtaining the convictions.
