Attorney General Steve Marshall Announces Conviction of Mobile County Man on Child Pornography Charges
(MONTGOMERY) Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the conviction of a Mobile County man on multiple charges of child pornography. John Anthony Guy, 54, of Mobile, pleaded guilty Monday in Mobile County Circuit Court to nine counts of possession of obscene matter and one count of dissemination of obscene matter.
Attorney General Marshall’s Criminal Trials Division previously presented evidence to a Mobile County grand jury in March of 2021, resulting in Guy’s indictment.
On December 5, Guy was sentenced to 25 years to serve in the Alabama Department of Corrections. Guy must immediately register as a sex offender and abide by all requirements of Alabama’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
“Sex crimes against children are particularly tragic because of the devastation they wreak upon the victims’ innocence and trust which can last a lifetime,” said Attorney General Marshall. “It is vital that we take these violations seriously and punish those who commit these vile crimes.”
Attorney General Steve Marshall commended his Criminal Trials Division for its successful prosecution of this case, noting in particular, Assistant Attorneys General Chenelle Smith and Jillian Evans, as well as the Special Victims Unit of Attorney General’s Investigations Division.
