(Montgomery, Ala.) – Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the capital murder conviction of Breore Alferi Williams, 28, of Mobile. Williams was convicted in the Mobile County Circuit Court on August 15, 2025.
The evidence at trial showed that on the morning of December 14, 2021, Mobile police discovered the body of Robert Ragona at the Isle Parkway Apartments. Mr. Ragona died of numerous stab wounds. Williams came to the attention of police who were investigating the crime because he was observed entering the victim’s apartment after it had been sealed off from public access by the police. Williams was apparently attempting to gain access to the victim’s apartment to not only conceal evidence but to steal cell phones that belonged to the victim. DNA evidence further tied Williams to both the victim’s apartment and articles of his clothing. Williams was convicted of capital murder because he murdered the victim while burglarizing his apartment.
Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood successfully prosecuted this case and obtained a guilty verdict. Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for his capital murder conviction. Williams sought to have his conviction reversed on appeal.
The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Division handled the case during the appeals process, arguing for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to affirm Williams’s conviction. The Court did so in a decision issued Friday, August 14, 2026.
Attorney General Marshall commended Assistant Attorney General John E. Owen for his successful work on this case and thanks District Attorney Keith Blackwood and his staff for their valuable assistance in obtaining the capital murder conviction.
