AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES THAT COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEALS
UPHOLDS VOTER FRAUD CONVICTIONS IN HOUSTON COUNTY

(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange announced that the
Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals on Friday upheld the voter fraud conviction of
Olivia Lee Reynolds. She was convicted in September of 2015 in Houston County
Circuit Court.
Evidence was presented at trial that resulted in a jury finding Reynolds guilty of
24 counts of absentee ballot fraud. The crimes occurred during a 2013 Dothan
municipal election.
The case was prosecuted at trial by the Houston County District Attorney Doug
Valeska’s office. Reynolds subsequently sought to have her convictions reversed on
appeal.
The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Section handled the case during the
appeals process, arguing for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to affirm the
convictions. The Court did so in a decision issued on Friday, August 5.
Attorney General Strange commended Assistant Attorney General Andy Poole
of the Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Section for his successful work in this case.
