AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES INDICTMENT OF FORMER
CULLMAN NURSING HOME EMPLOYEE FOR THEFT

(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange today announced the
indictment* of the former business office manager of a Cullman nursing home on
charges that he stole patient funds entrusted to him.
Jeffery Adam Woods, 36, of Cullman was indicted on July 11 by a Cullman
County grand jury on one count of theft of property in the first degree, a class C felony.
Evidence was presented that he collected approximately $2,000 from the family
members and sponsors of the residents of the Folsom Center Rehabilitation and
Healthcare nursing home. Woods is alleged to have then kept the money for his
personal use, rather than depositing and crediting the money to the residents’ patient
trust fund accounts.
Nursing home management discovered the shortage in the patient trust fund and
reported the matter to officials at the Alabama Department of Public Health, who
forwarded it to the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for investigation.
Attorney General Strange thanked the management of Folsom Center
Rehabilitation and Healthcare for their diligence in discovering and reporting the theft.

*An indictment is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
