AG STRANGE REMINDS ALABAMIANS
JUNE 8, 2015, DEADLINE TO FILE BP CLAIMS
(MONTGOMERY)–Attorney General Luther Strange reminded
Alabamians today that June 8, 2015, is the deadline for eligible claimants to
file to collect compensation from BP due to the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill.
“BP has repeatedly stated that it is committed to paying all legitimate
claims arising from the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill. Therefore, all Alabama citizens,
businesses, and organizations that have legitimate claims should file for
compensation by the June 8, 2015, deadline for the Economic and Property
Damages Settlement. Failure to file may result in otherwise legitimate
claims being denied.”
General Strange also reminded Alabamians that his office
investigates and prosecutes fraudulent claims: “The claims process is
intended to compensate individuals and businesses that meet the
qualifying criteria for legitimate claims. We remain committed to the
investigation and prosecution of those who file false or fraudulent claims.”
Attorney General Strange encouraged Alabamians with questions
regarding their eligibility to contact the claims program either by visiting
the program’s website, www.deepwaterhorizonsettlements.com, or by
calling 1-886-992-6174.
